My journey

Growing up

From a young age, I was naturally curious and drawn to challenges — whether it was mastering Chinese chess at the age of five or learning to code simple games on an NEC DOS computer.
My passion for learning and problem-solving was deeply influenced by my family. I grew up observing the quiet yet profound ways they approached productivity and creativity. I watched my mother meticulously prepare elaborate meals for large family gatherings, effortlessly managing multiple complex dishes at once. My grandfather, on the other hand, was a silent innovator—transforming discarded materials such as furniture into beautifully repurposed functional cabinets and fixtures. Their ingenuity taught me that resourcefulness and discipline can turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.

1980s

1990s

Young adult

As a student, I thrived not just academically but also physically. I had a strong drive to push my boundaries, and in high school, I excelled in a range of sports including table tennis, volleyball, soccer, and athletics. Thanks to my larger physique, I often played in teams above my age group, which helped me develop a strong sense of perseverance and adaptability early on.
As I approached the end of my teenage years, my passion for mathematics and science coupled with my love for problem-solving naturally guided me toward further education in the life sciences. I pursued a Diploma in Biotechnology at Singapore Polytechnic, where I was introduced to the foundations of molecular biology, lab techniques, and research processes.

2000s

National Service

I was drafted into the Singapore Armed Forces and selected to serve in the elite Commando Formation for my mandatory National Service. The experience was nothing short of transformative. The training was grueling — physically, mentally, and emotionally — but it was also where I truly discovered the depths of my resilience and grit.

Exploring the unconventional

I’ve always been drawn to niche subjects and paths less traveled. That curiosity led me to an extraordinary start in my corporate journey — working in the mortuary at the Health Sciences Authority (HSA). It was a role that many would shy away from, but for me, it offered a profound opportunity to understand the intersection of science, process, and purpose in a high-stakes environment.
Soon after, I transitioned into the Forensic Biology Laboratory, where I served as a laboratory officer analysing crime scene exhibits. The work demanded precision, discretion, and a strong sense of responsibility. Each case was a reminder of how science can uncover truths and serve justice, and I was privileged to be part of that process.
Over the span of 10 years at HSA, I not only deepened my technical expertise in forensic processes and laboratory protocols, but also gained invaluable insight into laboratory operations and management. From navigating complex casework to ensuring strict compliance with quality systems, I developed a meticulous eye for detail and a strong foundation in operational excellence — skills that continue to shape the way I work today.
Throughout this journey, I remained committed to continuous learning. While working full-time, I pursued and completed a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology, graduating with Honours in Genetics from the University of Western Australia, followed by a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. These academic pursuits weren’t just credentials — they deepened my understanding of complex biological systems and strengthened my ability to apply scientific principles to real-world challenges.

2015

Serving the industry

Driven by a desire to contribute more broadly to society and support the business community, I joined the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF). It was an opportunity for me to serve, to learn, and to better understand the evolving needs of the manufacturing industry — one of Singapore’s key economic pillars. At SMF. I oversee the development of important Singapore and International Standards for the medical industry.
Following my time at SMF, I joined Vela Diagnostics as a Biosafety and Laboratory Manager. In this role, I oversaw the daily operations of both R&D and the manufacturing of PCR kits. The role deepened my expertise in laboratory and biosafety management, particularly in handling live viruses for research and development purposes. I also gained hands-on experience in laboratory expansion projects — including the planning and construction of a cold room to support warehouse storage. Ensuring compliance became second nature, as I was responsible for maintaining facility readiness for both routine and unannounced inspections by local and international regulatory authorities. This experience further sharpened my operational leadership and reinforced my commitment to safety, quality, and innovation in scientific and manufacturing environments.
Shortly after my stint at Vela Diagnostics, I was invited by SMF’s top leadership to rejoin the federation as part of its top management team. There was a growing need to fill critical capability gaps, and I returned with a renewed perspective shaped by my hands-on industry experience. When Covid-19 struck soon after, my insights from Vela proved to be especially valuable. Having worked directly in a manufacturing and R&D setting during a public health crisis, I was better equipped to understand the challenges faced by our manufacturers — from workforce safety and facility readiness to supply chain bottlenecks. This allowed me to anticipate their concerns, provide relevant support ahead of time, and bridge the gap between policy and on-the-ground execution more effectively. My return to SMF marked a period of deeper impact — not just through strategic leadership, but through empathy born from lived experience.
One of the most defining moments in this chapter was during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. As the crisis unfolded, businesses across sectors were thrown into uncertainty. I found myself on the front lines, working directly with companies that were struggling to navigate disruptions in supply chains, workforce challenges, and rapidly changing regulations. It required quick thinking, creative problem-solving, and a strong sense of purpose to deliver solutions that were not only effective but also executable under crisis conditions.
At the same time, our mission to promote manufacturing growth never stopped. We had to adapt rapidly — pivoting strategies, accelerating digital initiatives, and forging partnerships that could offer meaningful support to businesses. This period taught me the value of staying agile under pressure, and the importance of empathy and clarity when engaging with stakeholders.
Beyond the immediate challenges, my time at SMF gave me a deep understanding of Singapore’s key manufacturing verticals. I developed strong competencies in stakeholder engagement, project management, and cross-sector collaboration. More importantly, I learned how to be resourceful and solution-oriented in the face of complexity — skills that continue to guide my work in every setting.

Building Mediafacturing

Fueled by my passion for innovation and business strategy, I took a leap into entrepreneurship and founded my first company — Mediafacturing. Born from the idea that advertising should go beyond just promoting products, Mediafacturing was created to help businesses tell their stories, showcase their capabilities, and build meaningful connections within the industry.
In a highly competitive advertising landscape, what sets Mediafacturing apart is our dual focus: not only do we offer creative and strategic advertising services, but we also run our own business media platform. Through this platform, we actively profile our clients — highlighting their achievements, technologies, and unique strategies. This approach allows us to go beyond being a service provider — we become a strategic partner that helps amplify our clients’ visibility, credibility, and reach.
Our mission is to build a strong ecosystem where businesses can learn from one another, stay updated on the latest industry trends, and form partnerships that drive growth. Whether it’s a small enterprise looking to expand, or an established brand adopting new innovations, we help them position their strengths through media, storytelling, and strategic communication.
With Mediafacturing, I’ve combined my experiences in public service, operations, and stakeholder engagement into a platform that empowers others — bringing together creativity, content, and commerce under one roof.

Frequently asked questions

I bring an uncommon mix of experiences — from forensic biology to business strategy, branding to regulatory consulting — and I use that diversity to offer fresh perspectives. I’m not just sharing theories; I’m connecting real-world dots across disciplines to help people and organisations see the bigger picture. Whether it’s guiding someone on their career path or helping a team make sense of complex industry standards, my strength lies in turning scattered information into meaningful, actionable insights. It’s about making knowledge work for people — not just impressing them with it.

I created this website because I wanted a space where I could share my journey — the highs, the pivots, the lessons — especially with young adults who are just getting started. I’ve met many who are full of potential but unsure of where to begin, and I hope that by sharing what I’ve learned, they’ll gain a head start and even go further than I have. Traditional professional platforms often feel too rigid to capture the full story — the mix of science, strategy, personal growth, and business that makes up who I am and what I do. This site gives me the freedom to speak honestly, share openly, and connect meaningfully with those looking for more than just textbook answers.
